Christmas Eve is almost upon us, and churches throughout Birmingham will open their doors for special holiday services. Here's what you need to know:

First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham

• Christmas Eve: Services will be held at 2 p.m. (rejoicing spirits), 5 p.m. (family), 8 p.m. (traditional with Communion) and 11 p.m. (lessons and carols).

Congregational Church of Birmingham

• Christmas Eve: Services will be held at 5 p.m. (featuring Lessons, Carols and Candles Around the Piano) and 9 p.m. (including Festival Worship with the Choir)

Christ Church Cranbrook

• Christmas Eve: Services will be held at 5 p.m. (for families and children), 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Nursery care is available during the 8 p.m. service.
• Christmas Day: Service will be held at 10 a.m.

St. Columban Catholic Church

• Christmas Eve: Mass will be held at 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., with the choir beginning to sing at 8:30 p.m.
• Christmas Day: Mass will be held at 8 a.m.

St. James Episcopal Church

• Christmas Eve: Services will be held at 5 p.m., featuring Communion and a Christmas pageant, and 10 p.m., with Communion. The music begins at 9:30 p.m.
• Christmas Day: Service will be held at 10 a.m. with Communion.

Kensington Community Church
