Winter Holiday Gift Show, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Presentation in Birmingham

Winter Holiday Gift Show

The Community House hosts its annual Winter Holiday Gift Show this weekend, just in time to get an early start on the holiday shopping season. Visitors are welcome from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and general admission to the show is $7. Fifty vendors are expected to showcase unique jewelry, florals, boutique clothing, specialty foods, children’s books, toys and more.

Donations of unwrapped gifts will be accepted throughout the weekend to distribute to TCH non-profit agencies for local at-risk children.

Danish String Quartet at BoConcept

BoConcept in Birmingham, the Denmark-based furniture store, will host the Danish String Quartet for a free, mini-concert from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event, presented in collaboration with the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, will feature folk tunes from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the Faroe Islands as well as classical selections.

Quarton Turkey Trot

Birmingham's Quarton Elementary School will host a 5K Turkey Trot walk/run to help promote healthy habits as this holiday season just gets under way. Yoga Moves MS

Join Birmingham's Mindy Eisenberg for a fund-raiser that honors local MS clinicians and promotes the benefits of yoga for people living with the disease, while benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Troy Marriott Hotel.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Presentation

Former U.S. Army Captain Jim Suhay, a Vietnam War veteran, will present a history of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, one of the most controversial, beloved and visited memorials in Washington D.C. from 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17. The event is free and sponsored in collaboration with the Piety Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and The West Point Society of Michigan.
