You didn't have to be a car lover to benefit from the 2012 Woodward Dream Cruise.
The recently announced that it helped raise more than $20,000 for during its second annual "Cruisin' View" fundraiser, held during the Woodward Dream Cruise on Aug. 18.
During the fundraiser, more than 150 cruise fans paid to enjoy the day-long car show from inside the Bank of Birmingham's main branch lobby. Attendees donated a total of $20,112 to watch from the air-conditioned space, all of which went to The Community House. Part of that donation included a $5,000 donation from Bank of Birmingham.
"The Woodward Dream Cruise is an exciting one-day event showcasing beautiful cars and by hosting this fundraiser, the Bank of Birmingham can help raise much-needed funds for non-profits like The Community House in Birmingham, which will use the donation specifically for its outreach programs to help children in need," said Rob Farr, president and CEO of Bank of Birmingham.
"As a community bank, the Bank of Birmingham is committed to helping support the organizations that help our community flourish like The Community House," he added.
According to Camille Jayne, president and CEO of The Community House, Bank of Birmingham's donation will go a long way toward funding many of the organization's many outreach programs.
"The Bank of Birmingham's "Cruisin' View" event combines enjoying the rich culture of Metro Detroit's automotive past with supporting our community's future by helping raise funds for critical children's programs," said Jayne.
"The Community House is dependent upon leaders in our community such as the Bank of Birmingham and we are grateful for their support and donation that will help us to continue creating more vibrant lives," she added.
