Signing Day Looming For Local Football Stars

Athletes from around Oakland County will sign the National Letter of Intent tomorrow.

High schools in Oakland County will celebrate National Signing Day on Wednesday for their football athletes with press events throughout the day.

Feb. 1 is the first day student-athletes who play football can sign their National Letters of Intent (NLI).

Most scholarship athletes give verbal commitments to the Division I or Division II school they intend to sign with prior to Wednesday, but their intentions aren’t official until they put their signature on the NLI. By signing an NLI, the student agrees to attend that school for one academic year and the school assures the athlete a scholarship for at least one full academic year.
