Seaholm Volleyball Heads to Quarterfinals Tuesday

The Maples will face Macomb Dakota in the state quarterfinals Tuesday.

The Seaholm High School girls volleyball team continues their dominent run in the MHSAA state tournment this week, facing Macomb Dakota in a quarterfinal match-up at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Oxford.

The Maples have dominated their competition since they first surprised Marian early this month to claim a Class A district title. Marian, a traditional volleyball powerhouse, won the state championship in 2010 though fell in the regional semifinals last year.

From there, Seaholm went on to defeat Troy and then Clarkston to win the regioanl final last Thursday, sweeping the Clarkston Wolves in three sets.

"There's nobody that is going to stop these girls," Seaholm head coach Heather Lippert told MI Prep Zone. "They've been coming out with confidence. As a former player, this group is continuing to impress me. They don't want this run to end."

Macomb Dakota has also been on a roll this tournmant. The team began the regional tournament by sweeping L'Anse Creuse in three sets, followed by another three-set sweep of Grosse Pointe South.

Should Seaholm win Tuesday, they'll face the winner of the Fenton-Northville match-up, also happening Tuesday. All semifinal matches will be played at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek on Friday. The finals will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday in Battle Creek.
