On the Schedule: Playoffs in Full Swing This Weekend

We've got your full lineup of games and tournaments for Birmingham-area schools.

The MHSAA playoff season is in full swing this weekend. Here's what you need to know about this weekend's schedule:

Boys Baseball

  • The Seaholm and Groves baseball teams play in the district semifinals Saturday. If either teams wins, they'll go on to play in the finals at 2 p.m. Saturday at Southfield-Lathrup. If both teams win, it will be a cross-town showdown for the district title.
  • Roeper baseball also plays in the district semifinals this weekend; Detroit Country Day, meanwhile, was defeated by Pontiac Notre Dame Prep Tuesday.

Boys Lacrosse

  • After defeating Novi on Tuesday, the Birmingham United boys lacrosse team faces Northville Saturday. If they win, they'll go on to play the winner of the Brother Rice and Clarkston match on June 6.
  • Detroit Country Day plays Grosse Pointe South Saturday. If they win, they'll play the winner of East Grand Rapids and Cranbrook on June 6 as well.

Girls Lacrosse

  • After beating Grosse Pointe South on Wednesday, the Birmingham United girls lacrosse team faces their neighbors, Marian, on Friday. If they win, they'll face the winner of Ada Forest Hills Eastern and Rockford in the state semifinals.

Girls Softball

  • Softball teams from Seaholm and Groves play in the MHSAA district tournament Saturday. If either team wins, they'll play at 2 p.m. Saturday at Southfield-Lathrup in the district finals. 
  • Detroit Country Day plays Andover in their district game Saturday. If they win, they'll play in the 1 p.m. finals against the winner of Lahser and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep.

Girls Tennis

  • Detroit Country Day is the only Birmingham-area team with tennis players in the state finals this weekend.

Boys Lacrosse

  • Friday, MHSAA Regional Tournament, 7 p.m.: Birmingham United Varsity vs. Northville (away)

Girls Softball

  • Saturday, MHSAA District Tournament, Noon: Varsity vs. Southfield-Lathrup (@ Southfield-Lathrup)

Girls Lacrosse

  • Friday, MHSAA Regional Tournament, 7 p.m.: Birmingham United Varsity vs. Marian (@ Troy)

Girls Water Polo

  • Friday-Saturday, State Finals: Varsity @ East Lansing

Girls Softball

  • Saturday, MHSAA District Tournament, 11:30 a.m.: Varsity vs. Andover (@ Pontiac Notre Dame Prep)

Girls Tennis

  • Friday-Saturday, MHSAA State Finals: Varsity @ Holly
