Brother Rice, Country Day Advance to Boys Basketball District Finals

Southfield-Lathrup eliminates Seaholm. Yellowjackets beat Madison Heights Lamphere, Warriors knock off Royal Oak Ravens.

Playing as the undefeated home team Wednesday night, Detroit Country Day's spot in the boys basketball district finals was hardly in doubt.

The Yellowjackets beat Madison Heights Lamphere 77-13 Wednesday in the district semifinals. They outscored Lamphere in the first half 51-7 and only a running clock in the second half helped put the Rams out of their misery. Country Day will have to beat Cranbrook-Kingswood on Friday to advance to regionals.

Also advancing Wednesday to the basketball district finals was Brother Rice, which beat Royal Oak at 53-43. Rice will play Southfield-Lathrup on Friday, which successfully knocked a second Birmingham team out of the playoffs in as many games.
