Report: Teacher on Leave After Allegations of Misconduct with Student

The teacher at Groves High School in Beverly Hills is on administrative leave, but Birmingham school officials aren't saying what led to the disciplinary action.

Birmingham school officials are saying little about a teacher who has been placed on administrative leave in the wake of allegations of misconduct with a student.

Principal Cathy Hurley sent a message to parents Wednesday saying that a teacher at Groves HIgh School in Beverly Hills was facing disciplinary action, the Oakland Press reports.

“Recently, a Groves staff member was placed on administrative leave. As this remains an open investigation, please respect the standard of confidentiality we must maintain for all involved in this matter.

“Further, please respect that staff members are not briefed on matters while the investigation is open. Thus, they cannot provide information for you. I assure you that when information can be shared, I will communicate with you.”

A Birmingham school spokeswoman confirmed that a teacher was on leave, but declined further comment, the newspaper said.
