Need To Know: Dates for 2011-12 School Year

Want to schedule a kid's dentist appointment or plan a family vacation around spring break next year? Get out your calendar because we have the dates you've been looking for.

Starting Sept. 6, school is back in session for the students in the . It's never too early to begin planning, so here are the dates you need to know for the 2011-12 school year.

September

  • Sept. 6: First day of school
  • Sept. 19: curriculum night
  • Sept. 20: curriculum night

October

  • Oct. 7: No school for elementary, (BCS) students.
  • Oct. 11-27: Elementary and middle school MEAP testing
  • Oct. 11-27: ninth grade MEAP testing — social studies
  • Oct. 19: Seaholm conferences
  • Oct. 20: Groves conferences

November

  • Nov. 3: End of first quarter for elementary, BCS and middle school students
  • Nov. 4: No school for elementary, BCS and middle school students
  • Nov. 9: Middle school conferences (students attend in the morning only)
  • Nov. 10: Middle school conferences (students attend full day)
  • Nov. 15: Kindergarten, elementary and BCS conferences (students attend full day)
  • Nov. 17: Elementary and BCS conferences (students attend in the morning only)
  • Nov. 18: High school exams (students attend full day)
  • Nov. 21: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • Nov. 22: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • Nov. 22: End of second trimester for the high school
  • Nov. 23: No school
  • Nov. 23-25: Thanksgiving break

December

  • Dec. 5: Groves curriculum night
  • Dec. 6: Seaholm curriculum night
  • Dec. 19-Jan. 2: Winter break

January

  • Jan. 3: Classes resume
  • Jan. 16: Martin Luther King Day, no school
  • Jan. 25: Groves conferences
  • Jan. 26: Seaholm conferences
  • Jan. 27: End of second quarter for elementary, BCS and middle school students (students attend in the morning only)

February

  • Feb. 20-24: Midwinter break
  • Feb. 27: Classes resume

March

  • March 6: High school MME testing — grade 11 (no school for students in grades 9, 10 and 12)
  • March 7-8: High school MME testing — grade 11 (no school for students in grade 9, 10 and 12)
  • March 7-8: Middle school conferences
  • March 13: High school exams (students attend full day)
  • March 14: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • March 15: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • March 15: End of second trimester for the high school
  • March 16: No school for high school students
  • March 19-20: Kindergarten conferences
  • March 21-22: Elementary and BCS conferences (students attend in the morning only)

April

  • April 2-6: Spring break
  • April 9: Classes resume
  • April 12: End of third quarter for middle school students
  • April 13: End of third quarter for elementary and BCS students
  • April 13: No school for middle school students

May

  • May 3: High school conferences
  • May 28: Memorial Day, no school

June

  • June 3: High school graduation ceremonies
  • June 13: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • June 14: High school exams (students attend in the morning only)
  • June 15: Last day of school (students attend in the morning only)
