Roeper Alum Debuts Work at Detroit Art Gallery

The photographs of 2007 Roeper grad Sam Wolson will be on display at Detroit's 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios through the end of July.

The photographs of Sam Wolson, a 2007 graduate of the Birmingham-based , are currently being featured at Detroit's 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios.

His collection of photos, from a series called Reflections in Transit, made its debut June 29 alongside the work of more than 15 local artists.

Reflections in Transit is a black-and-white series of photos shot inside buses and bus stations in Bogota, Columbia. Wolson took the photos while working as a freelance photograher and videographer in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Paraguay and Columbia.

Before going abroad, Wolson worked as a multimedia intern at Slate Mazagine, was the managing photo editor at the University of Michigan's The Michigan Daily and one of the 2010 recipients of the Wall Street Journal's "Six Best Sports Photos" of the year award.

“Roeper’s teachers, curriculum, and commitment to creativity knowledge set me on the path that I’m on today. I’m eternally grateful for the lens it gave me to view the world," Wolson said.

Wolson's work will be featured at the 555 Nonprofit Gallery and Studios, located in Detroit's former Third Police Precinct, through July. Beginning Aug. 10, his work will be featured at Main Street Studios in Buffalo, NY.
