The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center’s Summer Youth Art camp is celebrating the Summer Olympics starting July 30 through August 10. Enthusiasm will prevail as campers delight in designing their own flags, partaking in an “official” processional, creating torch sculptures and so much more.
“We’re thrilled to bring the summer games to the BBAC,” said Susan Owens, Youth Programs Director of the BBAC. “Campers will design their own Olympic ring, create and cast a bronze medallion, celebrate London and partake in daily enrichment activities that will educate our youngsters about all things Olympic.”
Camp dates are Monday-Friday, July 30 - August 10, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. with before and after camp programs available. Youth entering grades 1-8 in fall 2012 are welcome. General camp curriculum includes painting and drawing, ceramics, jewelry, metalsmithing, mixed media and sculpture. Campers are grouped by age and will rotate through different classes in a variety of media; all creative instruction is designed to build skills and confidence.
