BCS Students Get Hands On During Birds of Prey Presentation

The Leslie Science and Nature Center paid a visit to the Birmingham Covington School last week.

How many different kinds of birds of prey are there? What do they look like? And how big would an owl's eyes be if owls were as big as humans?

Those were the questions Sarah Gilmore, raptor educator from the Leslie Science and Nature Center, discussed with students at the Birmingham Covington School last week. Gilmore showed students a variety of bird species while getting students involved as well. In the photo above, third grader Jonathan Cloutier shows off how big an owl's eyes would be if owls were as large as, well, him.
