Vision For Vacancies: What Belongs At Adams Square?

The former home of Shore Mortgage is an empty anchor at Birmingham's Adams Square Plaza. What should move in?

Hate to see empty storefronts around Birmingham? This one at 770 S. Adams St. is one of the longer-sitting unoccupied spots in the city.

Empty since Shore Mortgage left in the midst if the housing market collapse a few years ago, this large property anchors one end of the Adams Square Plaza. We recently told you about the ACO Hardware next door that moved out in August.

What's your vision for this vacancy?

You don't need to be a commercial developer or city planner — or have money to invest in a business project — to have the next great idea. We just want to hear about it. Please leave your ideas in the comments section below.

This is part of an occasional series; we're excited to hear about your ideas for vacant spaces around town.
