Shoplifter Caught At Moosejaw; Business Cooler Stolen

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department investigated thefts reported by local businesses last week.

Officers responded to Moosejaw for a shoplifting complaint at about 7:30 p.m. July 22 and confronted a woman that tried to leave without paying for merchandise, reports said. Employees called the police after watching the woman take several shirts and a dog collar, and conceal them before trying to walk out the door.

Police arrested the 24-year-old Detroit resident and issued an undisclosed court date once she posted bond.

Police also responded to the Be Well Lifestyle Center after employees reported their liquid lunch riding cooler was missing at about 7 p.m. on July 22, reports said. The cooler was taken from the sidewalk outside the store's front door. There are no witnesses, and no suspect information was available.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the department at 248-594-0026.
