Police Blotter: Car Stolen from Cranbrook Car Care Center

Vehicle is missing from the repair shop's parking lot, but the unpaid bill gets left behind.

A Birmingham car repair shop is out nearly $800 and missing a vehicle.

According to police reports, the owner of the 2001, four-door, silver PT Cruiser dropped off the car for repairs at  on Feb. 6. When repairs were finished Feb. 11, the car owner was notified and told the bill was $782.65. The car was parked in the repair shop's lot, according to police.

On Feb. 24, Cranbrook Car Care Center employees reported the car was gone and the bill had not been paid, though the station still had the keys. The station called the owner and left several messages with no calls in return. In addition, police discovered the vehicle's license plate wasn't valid nor registered to an owner.
