A roundup of Birmingham police reports:

Briefcase taken from unlocked car

A briefcase was stolen from an unlocked car parked in a driveway on the 1100 block of Pierce Street. According to reports, the theft occurred sometimes between 9 a.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. Monday. Reports say the victim, a man, was alerted to the theft when a neighbor called to say she had found some papers belonging to the man one block north of his house. The papers were from the briefcase. The briefcase and some personal papers haven’t yet been found.

Cleaning crew suspected in missing laptops

Two offices in the building at 411 S. Old Woodward were ransacked over the weekend. According to police reports, laptops went missing from offices in suites 470 and 455. Both office managers claim the offices were locked when they left for the weekend April 22, and were still locked when they returned Monday. There was no sign of forced entry, reports state. The chief suspects, detectives say, are members of the cleaning crew though no arrests have been made.

Teenagers found trespassing near freshly-painted graffiti

Birmingham police responded Saturday to a report of a young person spray painting along the CN rail tracks, underneath the North Adams Road Bridge. The first officer on the scene saw a teen boy walking away from the bridge and after a short foot chase, discovered the boy — a 16-year-old from Southfield — had five cans of spray paint and paint on his hands.

Meanwhile, officers found three more young people under the bridge — 17-year-old and 18-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl, all from Birmingham — near a batch of freshly painted graffiti. All three denied involvement. One of the names painted on the bridge matched that of the girl.
