Painter's Assistant Charged For Stealing Engagement Ring in Birmingham

Brandon Denison faces a judge in Oakland County Circuit Court on a larceny charge.

A contractor who allegedly stole an engagement ring while working at a Birmingham home is scheduled to appear in Oakland County Circuit Court next week.

Brandon Denison, 28, recently waived his right to a preliminary hearing on a larceny charge in 48th District Court and will face Oakland County Circuit Judge Martha Anderson next Monday, records show.

Detectives with the Birmingham Police Department arrested Denison, 28, after questioning him about the Oct. 10 incident. A resident in the 1200 block of Puritan reported her engagement ring was missing and she told them about Denison, who was assisting a painter working in the home, reports said.

He told police he pawned the ring to pay his bills, including fees associated with court in order to restore his driver's license, wxyz.com reported. Authorities tracked down the engagement ring, valued at $18,000, and returned it to the owner.

Denison remained at the Oakland County Jail Wednesday on $50,000 bond, jail records show.
