Motorists Cited for Drunken Driving, Drug Possession in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • Birmingham officers arrested a 45-year-old city resident for being under the influence of alcohol following a crash in the area of Pierce and Frank streets last week. Officers responded to a crash report at about midnight and determined one of the driver's was drunk, reports said. She was arrested and issued a citation for operating while intoxicated.
  • A 51-year-old Hamtramck man faces charges for operating while intoxicated after a Birmingham police officer pulled him over for reckless driving. The officer stopped the vehicle in the area of Maple and Cranbrook roads at about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 7 and arrested the driver without incident, reports said.  
  • Birmingham police arrested a 22-year-old Rochester Hills man who was visibly intoxicated and yelling near the intersection of Merrill and Old Woodward at about 2 a.m. on Nov. 28, reports said. After officers confronted him, the man continued yelling and refused to speak.They issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
  • Birmingham police arrested a 40-year-old Oak Park man for driving under the influence of alcohol in the area of Woodward Avenue and 14 Mile Road on Nov. 30. Officers said they pulled over the man's vehicle after witnessing his erratic  driving at about 1:30 a.m. He was arrested, issued a citation and released on bond.
  • Two Pontiac women face drug possession charges after a Birmingham police officer pulled over their vehicle for having a headlight out, reports said. The officer stopped the vehicle in the area of Woodward and Oak at about 6 a.m. on Dec. 1 and arrested both women, ages 34 and 31 after discovering cocaine and marijuana in the vehicle, reports said.
