Hot Tea, Punches Thrown in Late-Night Fight at Zuma

Fight at Zuma results in injuries, second-degree burn after hot tea is thrown

Detectives are investigating after a late-night fight at resulted in injuries and second-degree burns after a cup of hot tea was thrown.

According to police reports, a man got into an argument with two other men around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, claiming the two had been staring at his girlfriend. According to reports, one of the two men then threw a cup of hot tea at the first man, causing second-degree burns on his chest. The three then got in a fight, reports state, and the two men who were accused of staring received injuries to both their faces and necks.

One of the men was transported to Pontiac St. Joseph for his injuries, while the other refused medical treatment. The man with burns was transported to William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and then transferred to the Detroit Receiving Hospitals' Burn Unit.

Items stolen from car, bike taken from front of library

Several items were taken from some unlocked vehicles on the 300 block of East Southlawn. The cars were unlocked and parked in their driveway overnight on March 24, police reports state. Items taken from the vehicles include sunglasses and a phone charger.

Meanwhile, a bicycle was taken from outside on March 25. According to police reports, the bike was taken between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. and the bicycle was not locked to the bike rack in front of the library.

Jewelry missing from home

According to police reports, a homeowner on the 400 block of Hanna has notified police that several pieces of jewelry have gone missing from his home over the past few months.

The homeowner told police the last time he saw the jewelry, it was in late November 2011. There were no signs of forced entry into the home, the homeowner said, and there have been no workmen or outside employees in the home during that time.

Car parked on Lakepark 'egged'

A homeowner is reporting that their car was "egged" while parked on the 500 block of Lakepark sometime between March 19 and 27. According to police reports, the car was parked in the street during that time. On March 27, he told police he discovered his left rear tail light had been broken out and the driver's side of the vehicle had been "egged."
