Dad Leaves Young Sons at Holiday Inn Express, Birmingham Police Say

Police notify Child Protective Services after a Detroit man left his little boys at the hotel, then was later arrested for drunken driving.

A 27-year-old Detroit man is being investigated for child neglect after leaving his two young sons alone at the last weekend.

According to reports from the , the man left his 5-year-old and 6-year-old sons alone at the hotel the evening of May 18. He was later arrested by Pleasant Ridge Police for operating a vehicle while intoxicated at 2:30 a.m. May 19.

According to police, the man called the mother of the two children and told her he was being arrested. The mother called the hotel, who then called the police. Police say they found the two boys sleeping in a hotel room alone, and took them to the police station where they were later picked up by their mother.
