Christmas Trees Stolen From Plant Station, Drunk Driver Arrested Near Roeper School

Employees believe thief or thieves pitched 10 trees over a storage fence

Police are looking for one or more thieves who made off with 10 Christmas trees from The Plant Station last weekend.

According to police reports, the incident occurred overnight Friday, Nov. 23, with employees discovering the missing trees around 9 a.m. Saturday. The trees had been stored in a fenced lot, police reports state. Employees and police believe the thief or thieves pitched the Christmas trees over the fence and carried them away in some type of vehicle.

Drunk drivers pulled over on Woodward, near Roeper School

Police pulled over two drivers in Birmingham this week for drunk driving.

The first incident occurred last Thursday, Nov. 22 around 3 a.m. near the intersection of Woodward and Lincoln. Officers pulled the driver over for a blown out headline. That driver, a 29-year-old woman from Dearborn Heights, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, officers also pulled over a 26-year-old Troy woman for running a stop sign at Adams and Dorchester — near the Roeper Upper School and down the road from Derby Middle School — around 3:30 a.m. Monday. The woman also failed a sobriety test and was arrested on drunk driving charges.

Man steals six packs of 5-Hour Energy from Kroger

A man took six packs of 5-Hour Energy last week from Kroger. According to police reports, the theft occurred a little after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21. The man is described by police as white, approximately 40 years old, 5'9" and clean shaven. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a black jacket and black jeans. Police reports state he put the drinks under his jacket and fled the store on foot.

Suspect sought in laptop, whiskey theft at office building

Police are on the lookout for a suspect in a theft that occurred at the 600 South Adams office building around 1 p.m. Monday. A laptop and bottle of Crown Royal whiskey was taken from one of the offices. According to police reports, the suspect is described as a 5'9" black man, weighing around 170 pounds and in his early 30's. According to police, he was seen wearing a tan-colored sweater at the time.

No sign of forced entry after jewelry box goes missing from home

Police have no suspects after a jewelry box was taken from a home on the 1500 block of Southfield Road Wednesday. The incident occurred a little before 7 a.m. Wednesday and police say there was no sign of forced entry at the home, with all doors and windows locked.

Scooter, lawn equipment taken from Birmingham garages

Various items were taken from Birmingham garages during the past week.

According to police reports, a resident living on the 600 block of Bloomfield Court reported that a motorized scooter was taken from his garage sometime between Tuesday, Nov. 20 and Thursday, Nov. 22 The resident told police the garage door was left open overnight.

Meanwhile, several pieces of lawn equipment were taken from a garage on the 2100 block of Buckingham sometime on Sunday. The homeowner believes the garage was not locked at the time of the theft.

Car windows smashed, wallets, iPad and more goes missing

Cars windows were smashed all over Birmingham this week, police reports show.

• The front passenger window of a vehicle parked on the 1300 block of Fairway was smashed sometime early Tuesday morning. An iPad 3, laptop, book bag and GPS unit were stolen from the vehicle.
• The rear passenger window of a vehicle parked on the 600 block of Vinewood was smashed sometime between 7 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday. Stolen from the vehicle was a black leather wallet containing cash, credit cards and several other miscellaneous cards.
• The back window of a car parked on the 1500 block of Lincoln was smashed out around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. Nothing was taken from the vehicle, the resident reported.
