Birmingham Police Arrest 2 Drunk Drivers; Troy Man Arrested for Marijuana Possession

Drunk drivers arrested on Woodward early Sunday morning

Birmingham police arrested two drivers earlier this week on drunk driving charges, both of which were driving on Woodward.

According to police reports, officers first responded to the scene of a fender-bender near Woodward and Lincoln a little after midnight on Sunday, Dec. 30. Police discovered that the driver who had rear-ended the other vehicle, a 25-year-old man from Ypsilanti, had a BAC twice over the legal limit. He was arrested for second degree operating while intoxciated.

A little later that night, around 4 a.m., officers pulled over another vehicle on Woodwar near Wimbleton for driving erractically. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Lake Orion, was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol.

Police find marijuana, pipes in Troy man's car

A Troy man was arrested for possession of narcotics last weekend. According to police, officers pulled over a vehicle near Ruffner and Adams for erratic driving around 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29. Officers discovered that the driver, a 20-year-old man from Troy, had marijuana, marijuana pipes and various other narcotic paraphernalia.

Roeper student reports stolen iPod

A Roeper Upper School student reported that her iPod was stolen the Friday before the school's winter break began. According to police reports, the iPod was stolen from the girl's jacket pocket sometime between 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. The girl told police she had left her jacket on a bench in the Student Life Center on the second floor of the Birmingham school. Police say there are no suspets or witnesses.

Cordless drills, generator, arm saw among items stolen from storage pod on Eton

Tools and equipment were stolen from a storage pod in the Gem Glass Company parking lot on Eton Street. According to police reports, the thefts occurred sometime between noon and 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at 575 Eton St. In total, police say thieves took a radial arm saw, generator, cordless drills and various tools and equipment.
