Did Anyone Bother To Read The Article About The Palladium?

There was an article posted in the Patch on June 5th from Courtney Bledsoe regarding the redesigning of the Palladium. Does anyone realize that the only GOOD movie theater in town where teenagers and adults go for date night and kids go for their birthday parties is being GUTTED to accommodate yet another 5 restaurants and only 5 movie screens?  This means that teenagers that normally go to the movies on weekends and during the summer will be hanging out in places like Panera, Starbucks, and Cosi?  This means that the town will have NOWHERE for these kids to go?  This means that EVERYONE in the area will be schlepping to the NEW theater at Maple & Livernois?

Granted, I know there this is still the Birmingham 8, but has anyone actually sat in that theater recently?  I did.  I went to go see the movie "The Other Woman" which was quite good, but those seats are terrible and cramped.  The staff was, as usual, rude and unfriendly.  And also, the big blockbusters such as Transformers and any other Marvel  movie will only have EXTREMELY LIMITED showings.  This means, we will be back to waiting in LONG lines and won't be able to predict anyone will get a seat.

I get that that corner needs help.  I also see that Barrio and The Hamilton Room and the other Chinese place (sorry I don't remember the name of it) failed.  I just think maybe the rich and powerful Jonna family needs to take another look at what they want to do and remember that Birmingham has other residents beside those that want to eat overpriced restaurants.  Please people pay attention.  This city, your city is going to become a place that NO ONE will want hang out in!
