The Race Relations & Diversity Task Force Presents the 22nd Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

The Race Relations & Diversity Task Force, a sponsored

group of The Community House, will host the 22nd “Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration,” 8:00 a.m., Monday, January 20, at The Community House, 380

South Bates Street in Birmingham.  The
theme of this year's celebration is, “What would Dr. King Say Today?” A musical
dance presentation will be performed by Celestial Rhythms. The keynote speaker

will feature award-winning broadcaster Darryl Wood.


Darryl Wood is a broadcaster with experience in public and
commercial television and radio as a talk host, producer, and announcer.  He is the host and producer of “Run to Win:
The Darryl Wood Show” heard on Salem Communication’s Detroit radio station
WLQV.  His work has been featured on the
Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and The European Broadcasting Union

(EBU).  Wood also held the position of
Series Senior Producer for the Detroit Educational Television Foundation
(WTVS). He has earned numerous awards and accolades for his work as on-air host
and program producer including: The United Press International Certificate of
Merit/Feature Reporting; Corporation for Public Broadcasting Program Award;
Central Education Network Excellence in Programming Award and several Emmy Awards.


“The Race Relations and Diversity Task Force is delighted to have Darryl Wood of theRun to Win Radio Show as our annual MLK day guest Speaker for 2014, said event chair Dr. Carletta Griffin.  “Martin Luther King is regarded as the most notable voice of the American Civil Rights Movement. As we set aside this day to honor Dr. King, we look forward to Mr. Darryl Wood sharing his insights on
our theme- What would Dr. King Say

Today?”

Foundation.  Additional support is
provided by The Nissan Foundation, GM Foundation and Comerica Charitable
Foundation.    


General tickets are $30. Student tickets are $15. Copper Sponsorship available at $60.00 includes program recognition, 1 adult and 1 student ticket. Bronze Sponsorship available at $100.00 includes program recognition and 2 adult tickets. The event includes a hot plated breakfast. For reservations, please call The Community House, 248-644-5832.
