Festival: Common Ground Street Art Fair

  • When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: South Old Woodward and Merrill south of Maple
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Common Ground wll hold the 38th annual Street Art Fair this weekend in downtown Birmingham. Produced in association with the Guild of Artists and Artisans, the fair will spotlight artwork from more than 160 juried artists and artisans, most of which will be available for purchase. The fair is a major fundraiser for Common Ground, a nonprofit emergency help line for adults, youths and families in crisis.

5K: Torry Community Fun Walk

  • When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Begins at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church
  • Cost: $10-$45
  • Why Go: In conjunction with Our Shepherd Lutheran Church's Oktoberfest, route: {:controller=>"events", :action=>"show", :id=>"our-shepherd-oktoberfest"} --> celebration, the church and Birmingham's Torry Neighborhood Association will be hosting a 5K fun walk this Saturday. The walk will wind throughout the surrounding neighborhoods, with all proceeds going toward the Community Food Bank and
