Weekend Planner: 'The Secret Garden' Opens at the Village Players Theater

• Cost: $10 for adults; $8 for students
• Why Go: Fashion merchandising students from both Groves and Seaholm High School will be showcasing their work this weeked at the All proceeds will benefit The Pink Fund while, in honor of Mother's Day, two area moms that have benefitted from The Pink Fund will be honored at the event.

• When: Check-in begins at 9 a.m. Saturday; race starts at 10 a.m.

• Why Go: Walk (or run) for a good cause this weekend with the LUNGevity Foundation's Breathe Deep Michigan event at Booth Park. All proceeds from the 5K and 10K, held in the neighborhoods surrounding Booth Park, will go toward the LUNGevity Foundation, which funds research for and spreads awareness about lung cancer.

• Cost: $5 donation encouraged
  
• Why Go: The will be celebrating its fifth year of Touch-a-Truck, during which kids will have the chance to check out big rigs up close and personal. For a $5 donation, kids can also climb over the vehicles and talk to the drivers.

• When: 7-9 p.m. Friday; 9:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday; Noon-4 p.m. Sunday; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday

• Why Go: Need some new books for your own personal library? Or, maybe you just want to read something new. Make sure to check out the Friends of the Baldwin Public Library's biannual book sale, going on this weekend in the library's lower level. Thousands of books, movies and more will be on sale. Friday is for Friends members only, though you can join at the door. Monday, bring a bag and check out for $5 a bag.
