This Weekend: Michigan-Made Film, 'Family Weekend,' Premieres at Birmingham 8

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this weekend. Birmingham Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

  • When: 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Birmingham 8, Dick O'Dow's
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Come check out the Detroit premiere of the made-in-Michigan film, Family Weekend, directed by Benjamin Epps. The film will be showing in Birmingham Friday through April 4, however on Saturday, movie-goers can meet Epps for a question-and-answer session, followed by an after-party with the local cast crew, at Dick O'Dow's starting at 9:30 p.m.

Easter: EGGstrvaganza

  • When: 9:30 a.m. Saturday
  • Where: Zion Christian Church (3668 Livernois Rd., Troy)
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Did you miss the Easter egg hunts in Birmingham and Beverly Hills last weekend? Never fear: you can still hunt for those colorful eggs during the Zion Christian Church's 7th annual Easter EGGstravaganza for kids ages 2-11. No backpacks allowed.

Sports: Mike Lodish at Men's Breakfast

  • When: 7:30 a.m. Friday
  • Where: First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham
  • Cost: $5 donation encouraged
  • Why Go: Former NFL star, Birmingham resident and 1985 Brother Rice graduate Mike Lodish will be speaking at this year's Men's Breakfast, hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham. All men — from grandfathers to brothers — are welcome. Lodish, who used to play for the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos, currently holds the NFL record for the most Super Bowl appearances.

Family: Family Day Paint Party

  • When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Paint Party Royal Oak (2514 W. 14 Mile Rd., Royal Oak)
  • Cost: $20
  • Why Go: Get out with the kids during this holiday weekend at Paint Party Royal Oak, which is hosting a special day just for families. Paint colorful kites for spring while Paint Party provides the canvas, acrylic paint, brushes and aprons. Parents and kids are free to bring their own snacks and drinks.

Easter: Easter Brunch

This Sunday is Easter and Birmingham will be host to its own line-up of brunches and family-style breakfasts, including:
