In Brief: Freezing Rain Leaves Roads Icy

The winter weather advisory is expected to continue until noon Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has announced a winter weather advisory for Oakland County from 4 a.m.-noon Tuesday, warning against slick roads.

According to the National Weather Service, Oakland County will see a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain Tuesday morning, leaving roads—especially side streets and un-treated roads—icy.

A winter weather advisory is issued when periods of snow, sleet and freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Drivers are advised to use caution.

Temperatures will remain above freezing all morning, with highs near 36 degrees. There is a 100 percent chance of precipitation all day, with freezing rain expected during the late morning hours, which will turn back to snow in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation is expected at less than half an inch.

Going into Tuesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, with lows around 16 degrees.
