Get Out: Cemetery Tour, Farmers Market and Kids Helping Kids Walk

From a historic tour at Greenwood Cemetery to a meet-and-greet with the local firefighters association, there's something for everyone this weekend.

  1. Where:
    Parking Lot 6, North Old Woodward Avenue
    When:
    9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday
    Why go
    : The first starts this Sunday, and this year, it features more than 50 vendors selling fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and specialty prepared foods.

  2. Where:
    When: Noon Saturday
    Why go: The Birmingham Fire Fighters Association Local 911 will host a meet-and-greet with local firefighters. Firefighters will read books to the children, pass out balloons, sticker badges and discuss fire safety tips.

  3. Where:
    When: 10 a.m. Sunday
    Why go: For just $10, check out the newly renovated , clubhouse, maintenance equipment and new practice area. Breakfast followed by hot dogs, soda and a round of golf are provided. 

  4. Where:
    When: 2 p.m. Sunday
    Why go: Hosted by the Friends of the , this tour will focus on Birmingham personalities of the 20th century. The tour will begin with Martha Baldwin and will include the Shains, Marshall Fredericks, Mary Chase Stratton and William Stratton and the Booth family, among other notables. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. 

  5. Where:
    When: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday
    Why go: Young participants and families gather pledges in advance for walking one, two or three miles to raise money for the Children's Charities Coalition. Proceeds benefit CARE House of Oakland County, The Community House, Orchards Children's Services and Variety, the Children's Charity. Refreshments, games, a raffle drawing and live entertainment will be provided.
