Get a Taste of Winter Sports at 4th Annual Rail Jam

The event will feature competitive skiers and snowboarders in the median between South Old Woodward and Woodward Avenue.

Our pick for today: Rail Jam

  • When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 22
  • Where: Median between South Old Woodward and Woodward Avenue
  • Cost: $5
  • Why Go: In anticipation of the upcoming winter sports season, the fourth annual Rail Jam will return to downtown Birmingham this Saturday. Sponsored by Don Thomas Sporthaus, spectators are invited to come out and watch skiers and snowboarders of all ages and skill levels compete. The Rail Jam also will feature a special appearance and demo at noon by Big Mountain Ripper and ex-Park Rat Rebecca Selig, one of the top females skiers in the world. All proceeds will benefit the High Fives Foundation, an organization that improves the quality of life for athletes seriously injured in sports-related accidents.
