East Maple Road to Close Saturday

The stretch of East Maple between Adams and Eton will be closed between 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday for construction.

If you plan on driving along East Maple Road Saturday, think again.

The stretch of East Maple Road between Adams and Eton will be closed between 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, the city's announced Thursday.

According to Assistant City Engineer Brendan Cousino, the city is closing the road in order to install a sewer line that needs to cross the entire street.

That stretch of East Maple has been under construction since late spring, when the city began replacing aging underground water and sewer pipes between Adams and Eton.

According to Cousino, the city expects to wrap up construction on East Maple in mid-September. Cousino said the engineering department isn't planning on closing the entire road outside of Saturday.

However, Cousino said as construction continues, that stretch of East Maple will occasionally be reduced to one lane. The city will make an announcement before shutting down any lanes.
