DTE: 177 Birmingham Customers Still Without Power Friday

After storms Tuesday, Wednesday and early Thursday morning knocked out power for thousands of DTE Energy customers in Metro Detroit, 177 Birmingham households were still without power Friday.

The largest outage remains along Larchlea Road, between Maple and Lincoln Street. A power line went down during the early-morning storm Thursday, knocking out the power for 106 households on Larchlea.

As of Friday, the downed power line pole had been moved off the road and the firefighter stationed to guard the downed lines was gone, though a home near Maple and Larchlea was still roped off.

The other outages remain scattered throughout the city, from Quarton Road to 14 Mile, including the — where the 2012 fireworks display would have been .

The bad news: DTE doesn't expect the power to return to normal for many households until Saturday evening.

"It looks like we won't be back to normal until late Saturday night," Dixon said Thursday afternoon. "But, that's based on the premise we're not going to get any more bad weather."

That means for many, it will be a steamy Friday. According to the National Weather Service, Friday's high temperature is expected to reach 102 degrees, with the heat index reaching 107 degrees. Meanwhile, an air quality alert and excessive heat warning has been issued for the area.

In Beverly Hills, meanwhile, more than 1,000 DTE customers are still without power. According to an e-alert sent by the Village of Beverly Hills, however, those DTE customers between Evergreen Road and Lahser are expected to have their power restored by Friday evening.
