5 Things To Know This Week: Millage Rally, Fall Rummage Sale

Here's what's going on in Birmingham this week.

  1. : The Birmingham Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at the on West Merrill Street. On the agenda are presentations on the district's data dashboard as well as a re-authorization of the 2011-12 operating tax rates.
  2. : The Friends of the Birmingham Public Schools will be holding a rally from 7-8:30 p.m at Beverly Elementary, officially kicking off efforts to pass a millage renewal for the district during the Nov. 8 elections.
  3. : The will host their semi-annual rummage sale Tuesday and Wednesday at the church. Items include furniture, housewares, electronics, sporting goods, clothing (adults and children), linens, jewelry, specialty and decorative items. Doors will be open from 5-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday; items will be half-off from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
  4. : The Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Michigan will offer a flu vaccine clinic for Birmingham students and residents from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at . Both the flu shot ($25) and flu mist ($30) will be available.
  5. : Right up the road in Bloomfield Hills, St. Hugo of the Hills will hold a fashion show and luncheon at the Oakland Hills Country Club from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $65 and guests are asked to RSVP by calling 248-646-7926.
