5 Things To Know This Week: Master Plan Symposium, 'Barnum' Premiere

Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.

  1. City Commission meeting Monday: The Birmingham City Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. On the agenda is a public hearing on the use of the 2013 Community Development Block Grants.
  2. Symposium of Birmingham Master Plan Thursday: Discuss the Downtown Birmingham 2016 master plan from 7-9:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Birmingham. Urban Planner Robert Gibbs will be on hand to discuss the plan, followed by a panel discussed by city officials. 
  3. Halloween is Wednesday: Get ready for some trick-or-treating this Wednesday! While there are no official trick-or-treating hours, the Birmingham Police Department recommends sticking between 6-8 p.m.
  4. Sunset Boulevard premieres Friday: The Birmingham Village Players' latest production, Sunset Boulevard, premieres at 8 p.m. Friday at the Village Players playhouse. Tickets are $19 with a $1 processing fee per order.
  5. Barnum premieres Saturday: The Groves High School Performing Arts Company's fall play, Barnum, premieres at 7 p.m. Saturday at the high school. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students.
