5 Things to Know This Week: Pumpkin Patch, Books and Bites
Here's what you need to know about Birmingham this week.
1. The Birmingham City Commission will meet Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall for a regular meeting. The agenda includes the initial screening of bistro applicants for 2013.
2. The Baldwin Public Library will host Books and Bites Thursday, a fundraiser to raise money to upgrade the library's teen area. Local restaurants will be present with a food and drink selection. The fun kicks off at 6 p.m.
3. The Birmingham Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra will perform at Seaholm High School Sunday at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22 for this exciting opener to the 38th season. Three classic pieces will be performed under the direction of Conductor Charles Greenwell.

4. Head over to Shain Park Sunday for the annual Birmingham Pumpkin Patch and Halloween Parade from 1-4 p.m. Dress your children in their Halloween costumes and let the festivities begin.
5. There will be free giveaways and cake pop tasting at the Birmingham Farmers' Market Sunday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. On Oct. 28, the market will conclude its 2012 season so head out while you can!
