Bordine's had leased the property for several years and wanted to purchase the space at 33779 Woodward Ave. at the end of the December.

"As with any real estate deal, it is not done until it is done," a post on Bordine's Facebook page dated Jan. 9 reads. "At the end of December we did not purchase the property as planned and to our surprise we were unable to extend our lease. Therefore, we had no other choice other than to depart the site."

Bordine's representatives said the property is now bank-owned and they are not sure what will be done with the site.

"We want to thank all of our great customers that visited us at Bordine's on Woodward," the Facebook page reads. "No doubt, Birmingham is an excellent place to do business. Truly a fantastic community. We will miss being there!"

Bordine's has locations in Rochester Hills, Clarkston, Grand Blanc and Brighton.

The site's fate depends on a developer's willingness -- and ability -- to pony up $925,000 ($100/square foot), the asking price in this listing: http://bit.ly/GRsRwN
