Frugal Family: Celebrate With Last-Minute Fourth of July Deals

It's the Fourth of July, and this week, Frugal Family scoured local sources to come up with great deals, including bargains on hot dogs and sparkling lemonade. Remember to check with the merchants for additional conditions and all deals are good through the end of the day today.

Kroger will be open during its regular hours on the Fourth of July.

• Deal: Everyone needs extra hot dogs for your Fourth of July barbecue. Bar-S Franks are 79 cents a pack with your Kroger Plus Card.
• Deal: Strawberry shortcake, anyone? Strawberries are four pints for $5.
• Deal: Now we're talking barbecue: baby back ribs cost $2.97 per pound with your Kroger Plus Card.
• Deal: This should stave off your guests' thirst. Twelve-packs of Pepsi, Coke, 7 UP or Vernors soft drinks cost four for $10, saving you a total of $3.

Papa Joe's will be open regular hours on the Fourth of July.

• Deal: Make it a fancy Fourth of July. New York strip steaks cost $4.99 a pound.
• Deal: A deal too sweet to resist: Nine-inch strawberry pies are $2 off. Meanwhile, all 8- by 8-inch cakes are $1 off.
• Deal: It is summer, after all; buy one Martinelli's classic sparkling lemonade or Prickly Passion lemonade and get one free.

• Deal: Thirsty? Get two 2-liter bottles of 7 UP for $3.
• Deal: Maybe you prefer your drinks on the healthful side. Vitamin Water costs $5 for four bottles.
• Deal: Perfect for those late-night Fourth of July s'mores: A six-pack of Hershey's chocolate bars cost $3.99 each. Get two bags of Kraft marshmallows for $3.
