The Birmingham hotel is applauded for its comfortable rooms and prime location, making it one of three Michigan hotels to make Conde Nast's best-of-the-Midwest list.

Birmingham's Townsend Hotel can add another accolade to its long list of awards, after Conde Nast Traveler magazine named the luxury hotel among the Top 25 Hotels in the Midwest as part of the magazine's 2012 Readers' Choice Awards.

The Townsend received an 82.7 overall score out of 100, making it No. 20 on the list of hotels from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin.

Chicago's Waldorf Astoria came in first place among Midwestern hotels during the magazine's 25th annual Readers' Choice Awards. Other Michigan hotels on the list include The Henry in Dearborn, which placed three places ahead of the Townsend at No. 17, as well as Hotel Iroquois on Mackinac Island, which came in No. 24.
