Birmingham native, salon owner to be featured on 'Rachel Zoe Project'

Birmingham native Joey Maalouf will be featured on the fourth season of The Rachel Zoe Project, premiering at 10 p.m. Tuesday on Bravo. Maalouf and his brothers own the South Old Woodward salon .

Maalouf moved to New York City in 2005 to pursue a career as a professional hair and makeup artist. He has worked on ad campaigns, editorial shoots and with celebrity clients including Eva Mendes, Molly Sims, Khloe Kardashian and Diane Von Furstenberg. The Rachel Zoe Project follows fashion CEO, wife and mother-to-be Rachel Zoe as she expands her latest clothing line.

Caruso Caruso to host Frank's Night Out

Alongside  on Sept. 8, Caruso Caruso will also host its own fashion and wine-centric event, Frank's Night Out. The 5-9 p.m. event will feature appetizers and wine from .

Birmingham business owners raise awareness of bullying

and owners Michael Collins and David Zawicki have begun Gloves On, a clothing initiative intended to raise awareness of bullying. Both stores will begin selling "Gloves On" apparel, jewelry and gifts — most with the image of a pair of boxing gloves — with a percentage of the proceeds to be donated to charities that support anti-bullying programs.

According to the pair, the program is meant to help children and adults discover their strengths to stand up to bullying. "Your Gloves-On apparel signals that you will defend the people and principles you hold dear," the group's Facebook page reads. "It says you know your strengths. It says you will confront bullies with action, words and deeds."
