Biggby Celebrates 18th Birthday With 99 Cents Coffee

"We depend on our neighbors in downtown Birmingham ... who have embraced the friendly environment that characterizes Biggby," says Birmingham Biggby owner Rose Glendinning.

The Michigan-based coffee brand, Biggby Coffee, officially turns 18 years old on Wednesday and to celebrate, they're saying 'thank you' to all their customers.

This Wednesday, all tall hot and iced specialty beverages will only cost 99 cents until 5 p.m. After that, all specialty drinks are 50 percent off.

Birmingham's Biggby is owned by Rose Glendinning and her brother Joe, both of whom are familiar faces around the Birmingham-Bloomfield area, whether it's at the Old Woodward cafe or at their booth at the Birmingham Farmers Market.

"We depend on our neighbors in downtown Birmingham and at our Telegraph location in Bloomfield Township, who have embraced the friendly environment that characterizes Biggby," Glendinning said.

"With our family and business roots in Michigan, we know customers have choices, and we appreciate their support for the friendly environment that they help create in both cafes," she added.

Biggby was founded in 1995 in East Lansing. Now there are more than 120 cafes in four states, all of which are locally owned and operated. Birmingham's Biggby has been open since March 2010.

"My brother Joe and I took the opposite approach from the 'Michigan flight' story you read about," Glendinning said. "We decided to move back to Michigan to invest in our future here, and what could be better than making friends each day in a Michigan 'born and brewed' cafe.' ... We're looking foward to thanking them with this birthday party!"
