Your Guide to This Weekend's Uptown Film Festival

Stars, movie premieres and parties to infuse a little taste of Hollywood into Birmingham during the two-day event.

The stars are due to descend on Birmingham at the end of the week for the two-day . The Friday-Saturday event is a celebration of films made partly or entirely in Michigan, with screenings and premieres at the and theaters.

Five feature films will premiere during the festival, including Kill the Irishman, starring Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer and Fray Stevenson, and Things Fall Apart starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Ray Liotta.

The festival will also coincide with the Michigan Film Awards Show, held in conjunction with the Detroit Independent Film Festival on Saturday evening at the Palladium. Awards will be given to filmmakers in various categories, with the show emceed by Fox 2 News' Lee Thomas. On Saturday morning, the festival will also host a panel discussion for Michigan filmmakers and others interested in being involved in the Michigan film industry.

Tickets for the shows and events are available at the festival's website, ranging from $10 per showing to $150 for a VIP two-day pass.
