Our pick for today: Birmingham Concert Band: Rhapsodic Celebration

  • Where: St. John Lutheran Church (23225 Gill Rd. in Farmington Hills)
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: The musical presentation will officially kick off the Birmingham Concert Band's 35th Anniversary Season. Filled with "melodic inspiration and rhythmic invention", the Rhapsodic Celebration will feature performances of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” featuring pianist Wesley Fishwick, a “Rhapsody for Euphonium” performed by Mike Fisher, as well as Holst’s, “A Somerset Rhapsody”.

Yesterday on my street, I saw a tree, on city property, with 'stuff' piled high around the base ofRead More the tree. I tried to tell the two gentlemen there it would eventually kill the tree. 'Not so!' they replied, according to, I believe, their landscaper. They then proceeded to try and placate this nosy gray haired woman. Maybe someone from the city could clue them in??
