Romance, Comedies and the Life of Donald Rumsfeld

Romantic comedies and a memoir from the country's former secretary of defense round out this week's latest arrivals at Baldwin.

Take it easy this week a quartet of comedies (romantic and otherwise) from , starring such big names as Zach Galifinakis, Katherine Heigl and Jamie Lee Curtis. Then, dive into a political memoir as fascinating as it is educational. This week, our Library Picks are:

Known and Unknown: A Memoir by Donald Rumsfeld

This memoir takes the reader into the life of former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, from the beginning of his political career during the Eisenhower administration, all the way up through his controversial role in the Bush administration.

It’s Kind of a Funny Story (DVD)

It’s Kind of a Funny Story begins when Craig, a troubled 16-year-old, checks himself into a psychiatric hospital because of suicidal thoughts. Forced to stay for at least five days, he soon forms a bond with Bobby (Zach Galifinakis), a middle-aged father also suffering from depression.

Life As We Know It (DVD)

In Life As We Know It, Holly (Katherine Heigl) and Messer (Josh Duhamel) are united only by the fact that they share a goddaughter, Sophie. Sophie’s parents abruptly and unexpectedly die, leaving Holly and Messer as her legal guardians.  

You Again (DVD)

In You Again, Marnie (Kristen Bell) has to relive teenage drama when her brother announces his intention to marry Joanna, her high-school nemesis. More trouble ensues when Joanna’s aunt turns out to be Marnie’s mother’s own sworn enemy from her high school days.

The Romantics (DVD)

The Romantics follows a group of seven friends from college who have all reunited for a wedding. But things soon become complicated when a past relationship between the groom and maid of honor threatens to resurface and disrupt the day.
