Nominations Sought for 17th Annual Birmingham-Bloomfield Cultural Arts Award

Cultural influences and potential nominees may be from Birmingham, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township or Franklin.

Do you know someone who has been influential in furthering the arts and culture in your community? Nominate them for the 2012 Birmingham-Bloomfield Cultural Arts Award.

Now in its 17th year, the award is jointly sponsored by , the Birmingham Eccentric, the (BBAC) and the .

Past winners have included musicians, philanthropists, writers, sculptors, teachers, photographers and volunteers. , executive director of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival and Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings. Judy Adelman also received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her "indefatigable promotion of the arts."

"The quality of the nominations can not be overstressed," said Anita DeMarco Goor, chair of the arts award committee. "We ask that nominations include as much detail to support the nomination as possible so the jury can make an informed decision.

Nominees can be from Birmingham and the surrounding communities, including: Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township and Franklin.

Selecting the winner will be a jury of more than a dozen art enthusiasts from participating communities while Link Wachler, of and designer for Life Links, will create the award to be presented at a special presentation Sept. 7 at the BBAC.
