Former Groves student and Birmingham resident Caitlin Mundth spoke with students about her career in musical theater.

Dance Academy received a special visit from Caitlin Mundth — former Birmingham resident, student and now Broadway dancer.

Mundth visited The Community House last week where she talked with students about her life as a dancer.

“Caitlin taught a wonderful ballet class to the TCH Dance Academy students. She talked to the students about her training and dedication to the art," said Renee Wood, director of the Dance Academy." She shared stories about life as a performer and how important daily technique class is to a dancer."

Mundth was in the three-time Tony Award-winning production of La Cage aux Follies on Broadway, where she performed at the Tony Awards and served as assistant dance captain. When La Cage closed, Mundth then joined the national tour of Chicago.

Before her career in musical theater, Mundth was a soloist at the Carolina Ballet, performing principal roles in masterworks by Balanchine, Robbins and Limon.
