This Weekend, It's All About the Chili in Downtown Franklin

Winter isn't letting go of southeast Michigan just yet, but you won't be "chili" in Franklin this weekend.

From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Franklin's business district will be hosting its third annual Chilly Chili Cook-Off, an afternoon of food, local music and family fun.

"This is one of our favorite events to host," said Maureen Movold, Main Street Franklin's promotions chair. "It's a great way to see your friends and neighbors in a fun and casual setting, plus taste a marvelous selection of chili entries."

During the afternoon of chili tasting, ticket holders will be able to taste as many chili entries as they like, casting their vote for their favorite chili to win the coveted People's Choice Award.

Plus, with the event held at the Franklin-Bingham Fire House, families will also have the chance to see Franklin's fire trucks up close and personal.

At the end of the day, however, this weekend's cook-off is all about giving back to the community. All proceeds from the event will go back to Main Street Franklin — a public/private partnership dedicated to preserving the historic downtown Franklin. The group hosts several events throughout the year, including the popular Franklinstein Frenzy.

Tickets to the Chilly Chili Cook-Off are $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 10 and under.
