Baldwin Public Library Seeks Student Representative

Applications for participation on the Baldwin Public Library Board as a student representative are due Jan. 13.

The Baldwin Public Library Board is looking for high school juniors to become its next student representative.

Students from Birmingham, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, and Bloomfield Hills can apply now for an opportunity to develop leadership skills, become active in local government, and be of service to their communities.

“This opportunity is an excellent way for high school students to develop leadership skills and to understand how local government and libraries operates," said Sheila Brice, vice president of the Library Board. "It also gives a chance for students to prepare themselves for future careers in politics or libraries.”

The commitment includes a one-year term that runs from Feb. 17, 2014 to Feb. 16, 2015, during which the representative attends monthly meetings and other programs.

Visit www.baldwinlib.org/studentrep for application details. The completed application, essay, and two letters of recommendation are due by Jan. 13, 2014 to Josh Rouan at the Baldwin Library, 300 West Merrill, Birmingham, MI 48009 or via email to josh.rouan@baldwinlib.org.
