9 Stories of Comfort: New Hotel Proposed for Birmingham

Group 10 Management of Farmington Hills wants to build the nine-story, 120-room hotel at the 1.5 acre corner of Maple and Woodward directly across from the Kroger store in the Triangle District.

The hotel would include two floors of private parking and 350 public parking spaces. The 114-feet-high building would also include retail spaces, restaurants, three floors of office space and two floors of luxury apartments,the Observer & Eccentric reports.

“Its a very exciting project,” project architect Victor Saroki told the city planning board at a recent meeting. “Quite frankly, it’s probably one of the biggest projects in this city right now.”

Planning board members said they’re excited about the prospect of a new hotel, and said it would bring some new life to one of Birmingham’s busiest corners.

Saroki said the project could serve as a catalyst to stimulate more development in Birmingham’s Triangle District.

“We’re going to fill up the full nine floors,” he said. “This is going to make a big statement in town at that corner.”

“When can you start?” board member Gillian Lazar asked.

Specific plans haven’t been submitted, but the developers said that if they get the green light from city officials, groundbreaking could occur next year.
