Birmingham In The Garden - Self-Paced Garden Tour

The First United Methodist Church of Birmingham is conducting their 2nd annual “Birmingham In The Garden” self-paced garden tour on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 9am – 4pm. With the cool, wet spring, this year’s Birmingham In The Garden tour promises to be an eye popping display. At four acres, our largest garden included on the tour to date is truly a collection of plants not to be missed. More than 400 conifers from throughout North America, alongside thousands of perennials including nationally toured hosta and daylily society collections are not to be outdone by the ‘over the top’ display of annuals. Our second largest garden included on the tour is a two plus acre delight that includes a 10,000 gallon pond with stream, waterfalls, water lilies, and koi. This garden, also nationally toured, has taken 40+ years to evolve and has blooms peaking throughout the season. Our remaining residential gardens offer varied displays. One such garden has resulted in a turf-less setting (imagine not ever having to mow a lawn) with a front yard to back yard flow that includes a special birch woodland garden.

Please join us. Tickets are $10 per person.  If still available, tickets may also be purchased the day of the tour for $15 per person. Proceeds from the tour will be used to aid student international mission participation. You can purchase tickets online at www.fumcbirmingham.org. Look for the “Birmingham In The Garden” logo on the home page.

For more information contact the church office at 248-646-1200. The church is located at 1589 W. Maple Road (between Southfield and Cranbrook) in Birmingham.
