Found Objects is a luxury lifestyle store featuring exclusive brands in clothing, shoes, accessories and more.  Owners Zachary Kay and Laurie Kay have offerings that are casual but sophisticated, luxurious but discreet.  “It’s about a style and a way of life,” Zak says.  “People shouldn't need to leave Michigan to shop.  We want to bring them the things they would find in major cities.” Much of their merchandise is exclusive, and many garments are one of a kind.  Sales associate Doris Bank can be seen in the accompanying photos, modeling the latest colors and styles.  Found Objects is the exclusive retailer of the J Brand RTW – Ready to Wear – from popular denim brand J Brand.  Men will find clothing from Todd Snyder, who was the creative director of J Crew menswear.

There’s more than clothes at this well-stocked shop.  You can find beauty products from companies such as Rodin Olio Lusso, Tata Harper, and Nuxe.  There are decorative pillows and linens from John Robshaw, a New York textile designer inspired by his travels to Morocco and India.  Most interesting are the candles called Popup Paris.  One in fifty has a secret surprise inside: a .25 carat diamond. Found Objects is a new store – it opened on March 1st of this year.  Zachary Kay is originally from Bloomfield Hills, a graduate of Cranbrook who attended the Parsons school of design in New York.  “Birmingham has a lifestyle that matches what we want to do,” he explained.  “We’re not a store that belongs in a strip mall.  We want to be an important part of this community.” Don’t let the road construction project on Pierce and Merrill stop you.  Found Objects is half a block from the Birmingham 8 Theatre.  It’s open for business, it’s brand-new, and it’s beautiful. --- This article was written by Birmingham photographer Ed Morykwas.  If you would like him to publicize your restaurant, business, or event for free, please send him an e-mail: ed@riveroftime.net
